The Fifth and Sixth Weeks

Craig finished two more weeks of daily radiation.
He is fatigued and his knee looks like fried bacon{no better way to describe it}, but he is so incredibly strong and amazing.
Only one more treatment! Monday will be his last day of radiation.
The next step will be surgery in 4 to 6 weeks.
This journey is a challenge and is bringing us closer to one another and what is most important in life.
Be present.

the great fly roundup

Saul has a new favorite sport-forget fetch or catnip bear or toys, he's into fly catching. I have to say, he's getting pretty good. The first fly took 5 hours of constant chasing to catch. I kid you not-FIVE straight hours of running. The next day it only took him 1 1/2 hours and the next day 15 minutes. Then he caught three and left them on the rug for me to see when I returned home. They are like his little trophies. What a champ. He then takes a good, long nap(as evidenced above). Unfortunately(for him, not us), we fixed the ripped screen we found. I wonder what his next adventure will be....

sweet tidbits from the last few weeks

Biking past three lakes on my way home from work(including the pretty sailboats and wind surfers). I could watch them for hours.
We have a nephew! Congratulations Jill and Kyle on the birth of Gage Elliot!
Our friends welcomed the birth of Avery Jane! Congratulations Catie, Greg and big brother Redford!
black sheep pizza{thanks Nations}
Sweet Martha's cookies from Lauren...mmm
Cottontail on the Trail and slurps from the hand-pumped drinking fountain on Minnehaha Parkway with two fun little turkeys.
Delicious dinner on the patio. {thanks Don & Paula}
Late night walks.
Pandora.
Sleeping in.
Wine with homemade scones.

The Fourth Week

Craig completed week 4 of radiation.
Strange how going to radiation becomes a daily routine, the same as eating lunch or going to work. Only a few weeks left.
The fatigue is setting in a bit, but he is feeling well.
Craig told me this week that I keep him positive and I, completely surprised, replied that he keeps me positive. We are happy together...
We are incorporating more healthy things into our lives-like brussel sprouts, kale and jogging. Today we went to a lakeside yoga event in the sunshine.

Memorasaurus

My niece loves dinosaurs, so we made her this dinosaur-style matching game (a la Memory).

We used recycled paper and after printing and cutting, sprayed them with a clear acrylic coat (found at the art store) to repel smudges and the like.

Saul

This guy makes me smile all the time.
Sometimes when I'm drawing a bath, he'll fall in.
He's always asking us to turn on the drinking fountain(aka the bathroom sink) when we are near it.
He likes to ride in my basket to the park and watch the birds and the squirrels.
Car rides with his nose out the window are also a fave.
Sometimes, if we're so lucky, he'll play fetch.

The Third Week

Craig completed week 3 of radiation.
He's feeling good. Some redness and swelling, but no pain, thankfully.
We are staying busy and active-we took a spin class together on Wednesday!

Make a wish

We stopped to stretch our legs and couldn't resist picking the dandelions and making wishes. I am turning my wishes into goals...

5 things you might not know about me...

1. I have a goal of hiking Canada's West Coast Trail within 2 years

{images via HEARBLACK}

2. I know how to milk a cow and birth a calf
3. I placed 2nd in the skid loader derby once(my aunt entered me)
4. I might scream if there is a bug in the house(I'm just not expecting them, that's all)
5. I want to poke people who don't use there, their, they're and the like correctly

Metro Cuff

This Metro Cuff by Tiffany Burnette is right up my alley.

Yep, definitely going on my wish list!

The Second Week

Week 2 of radiation went well.
Craig is doing well.
We are working hard to sort through all of the resources available.
We are reading Anticancer, A New Way of Life, by David Servan-Schreiber.

mobile

Husband and I crafted this mobile out of an entire vintage American History textbook.
